New Survey: The Best Tours in Dubai Prefer Heritage Sites
Old, it seems, is the flavor du jour in the golden emirate. Dubai, for all its flash and shine is one place where the old is treasured perhaps more than the new. At least the tourist set thinks so.
Last year saw an incredible 16 percent rise in the number of people visiting heritage sites in Dubai. The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing or the DTCM as its also known, recorded 1,009,848 visitors in 2008 compared to the 873,831 recorded the previous year.
These statistics are especially interesting as they highlight how flawed the Dubai bashing about the city-state’s attitude regarding its heritage structures really is.
Tourists coming for desert safari excursions in Dubai also love to visit the Hatta Heritage Village, situated deep in the outlying deserts of the emirate. This settlement has been wonderfully preserved and serves as an excellent setting for tourists to experience the Dubai of old.
Aside from the Hatta Heritage Village, Sheikh Sayeed’s House, Heritage Village, the Diving Village, the Naif Museum and the Al Ahmadiah School are the more popular destination to check out while on sightseeing tours in Dubai.
Incidentally, these sites are directly under the protection of the DTCM as well, making it easier for the body to gauge the tourist reaction and preferences.
Whether you are attending Dubai conventions or simply coming to the emirate for a short safari tour in Dubai, make sure you catch a glimpse of old Dubai via these heritage trails.
