Preserving beer mats (coasters)?
Recently, while visiting Europe, I collected quite a few beer mats (coasters) from famous bars. They are too thick to fit inside glass coaster covers (designed for photos). Has anyone heard of ways to laminate or preserve cardboard coasters?
You can get them laminated, or paint them with a clear acrylic. I peeled off the top layer of paper and used the photo coasters you mentioned above. It worked well, but you need to be careful of the thickness. I had a few that were to thick and I had to re-glue the photo pouches on them.
The thing is…coasters are meant to last. One time use you know. If you really want them to last, get a frame and put them on the wall near your bar.
