It was her song, I just found out!
Basically Pink was a co-writer of that song with producer max martin. they worked on it for her album but then didnt use it
This is not unusual and then these songs are just left on the shelf and can be used by other ppl if the writer is ok with that. So Adam’s label said oh we have this song, its good listen and see if you like it. He did and they asked Pink and Max if Adam could record it and they said yes.
When Idol ppl leave the show, they then go on tour for the summer. But 19 the management company of the show that then takes on management of the top ppl on the show, also want to rush out albums from the top ppl that season to capitalize on the fame from teh show and in time for holiday sales season etc
this leaves very little time for them to put an album together and while Adam was involved in writing quite a few songs for his album they needed more material.
